General Discussion / Reunion Match Reflctions
« on: April 09, 2017, 08:05:30 AM »
Pretty darn good day to be a cowboy action shooter!

The cool morning eased into a comfortably warm day. Down on his luck Bob though listed in critical condition, with many attempts to give him aid, has survived and will undoubtedly make an appearance after a time of convalescence. Pete is receiving counseling after unexpectedly being placed in the middle of a gunfight. His prognosis is favorable. I suspect that even after all the attempts to eradicate the gophers some may have escaped and are seeking to reappear when least expected.

It was fantastic to see Yakima Cannutt, Tn Hawk, Owlhoot Hardin & Preacher Red on the range. Of course, the presence of Last Kiss after a loooong absence while recovering from hand surgery was most welcomed. The spirit of cowboy comradery was wonderfully shared by all. It was a pleasure to see family members joining in the festivities, especially the womenfolk. I surely got my quota of hugs for the day and then some. We had three SMSS charter members in attendance, Yakima, Owlhoot & River Jordan. Though SMSS no longer conducts matches they are a cosponsor of the Reunion and paid for all the beverages and 1/3 of the food cost.

The success of any event is dependent upon the workers/volunteers. It began with Jackalope and Anitas leading role for the stages, scenarios and props, what a fantastic job. Thanks to the setup crew, most of whom show up every month. Honorable mention to Cactus Red, Tombstone, Dang Nabit Deb, Tio Don & Last Kiss for their assistance.

Thanks to all who supported the 2017 Reunion. Hope y'all had a swell time and will mark the second Saturday of April 2018 on your calendar.

"Until next time, if you don't wear a white hat, wear a smile, so we can tell you from the bad guys." (Marshal Andy)

PS We had two first time shooters, Miss Roxie & Duke, YEEHAA!

General Discussion / TMM at Phoenix Farms
« on: March 27, 2017, 05:42:30 PM »
Well,

The new property owner, Phoenix Farms, has made great strides in cleaning up the property. The addition by the cowboys of the covered pavilion on stage one is the icing on the cake. Y'all have done a fine job with the range adding cover to both stages 1 & 3 and the painting of the other buildings & stage fronts. "SALUTE", to everyone who chipped in with time, talent and dollars to upgrade the range.

General Discussion / Thank You Shooters
« on: March 11, 2017, 07:30:01 PM »
Howdy Pards & Pardettes,

To those that took a chance and made the trip to Oak Ridge..........SALUTE !! It definitely was a cool blustery match and except for an occasional snowflake or two, we were precipitation free. The Outlaws appreciate the folks from Greene County Regulators, Ocoee Rangers and TN Mtn. Marauders who participated in todays shootin' match. Jackalope's theme as to what started the gunfight was most humorous. Enjoyed the thought provoking scenarios and shooting sequences. T-Bone and I couldn't decide if we are dedicated shooters, less smart than those who stayed home or feeble  minded. Y'all come back now.....hear.

Trading Post / SOLD
« on: March 06, 2017, 09:03:02 AM »
Howdy,

Bought these boots over the internet and don't want to hassle with returning them. My loss is your gain. These are Oak Tree Pale Rider boots in Brown Grasso in size 10. I mostly wear 10EE and I can squeeze my foot into them but dang near pulled a calf muscle getting them off using a bootjack. You can have them for $145. Brown Grasso is a darker brown color. I wore them around the house, inside & outside, one afternoon so the soles are a little scuffed. Good looking boots just a little too small.

AHA! I can post pictures. Who'd a thunk it?

Howdy Y'all,

The April 8th Outlaws monthly shoot will be the annual REUNION Match. Lunch will be included at no extra cost to the standard shooting fee. Guests/non-shooters are welcome and please include them with your RSVP so we can have an accurate number for the meal count. It would be good if folks would bring extra chairs as we have limited seating. Homemade desserts are most welcomed, especially pecan pie. The usual assortment of beverages will be provided. Sign-In begins at 8:30am with the safety meeting at 9:15. Jackalope is putting together five stages that will no doubt be interesting. Hope to see y'all in April.

Menu

Stuffed baked potatoes with choice of pork or chicken bbq with assorted sauces & toppings. Banana Pudding & cookies for dessert plus maybe some homemade desserts. Beverages provided are several varieties of beer & soft drinks or water. No adult beverages will be served until all firearms are stowed away. Pickup your meal ticket at signup.

Howdy,

Moab Mangus would appreciate a refresher shooter orientation after setup on Sunday. He will bring his own guns and ammunition. It's been a long time since he shot a match and now is retired and ready to resume participation in CAS.

General Discussion / Appreciate Y'all
« on: February 11, 2017, 10:43:42 PM »
Thanks one and all. No doubt the weather predictions for rain were wide ranging form a low of 10% to a high of 40%. Thankfully the forecasters were the only ones who were all wet, as NO RAIN was experienced today. I am grateful for the assistance we get at each and every match with setup, pre-match activities, running the match and teardown after the match. Y'all come back now, here!

« on: January 27, 2017, 04:39:57 PM »
Howdy,

The upper fasades on Bay 6 & 7 (stages 4 & 5) have come loose and either need to be fastened or removed. I intend to be on the range Wednesday late morning or early afternoon to work on the problem, weather permitting. I just need a little help.

Thanks, Keystone

General Discussion / Thanks for Coming
« on: January 15, 2017, 09:04:54 AM »
Howdy,

A big thanks to all the folks who braved uncertain weather and shot the January ORO match. I know some had to endure the dense fog and others had to be rescued from a broken down truck. It was good to see folks gather from near and far to enjoy a day of competition and camaraderie. Congratulation to Tombstone on being TOP GUN for January. I appreciate everyone's help in setting up & running the match as well as getting things stowed away.

Muchas Gracias Amigos,
Keystone

PS Sure did enjoy the moderate temps & NO RAIN.........YIPPEE !!!
