General Discussion / RO Class
« on: February 27, 2022, 02:50:29 AM »
I will be offering an RO class on 3/13, the Sunday after our match next month. I will offer either I or II. I am not allowed to hold both on the same day so which one would folks rather have?

ROI is over all training on CAS and posse duties, ROII is more Match managment and TO training. This still does not mean you have to run the timer but it will teach you what to look for and what the calls are and sometiimes even why they are called the way they are.

Anyway, chime in on which class folks want and I will have the literature needed.

I am cleaning out my parents house and will have some things that folks might be interested in.

Right now I have a few boxes of antlers, sets and singles if anyone would like some or all of them
I also need to figure out what to do with a bunch of salt water fishing equipment if anyone lives the Salt Life.

Does anyone know of a collector of WWII firearms? I have a Nambu my grandfather brought back from the war and would like to get it to someone who collects such items.

General Discussion / Funny Story
« on: November 21, 2021, 04:59:39 PM »
Well at least everyone that has heard it thinks it is funny.

Yesterday I went over to Slaters to walk him through winterizing a RV. I had him hook up a compressor with about 40 PSI to the water supply and open faucets one at a time until they were blowing air. Also had him bypass the hot water heater so he could drain it. I had him by pass the unit then remove the drain valve. Anyone see the step I left out right there?
OK, here are some questions, how fast can a 7 gallon water heater empty with 40 PSI of pressure on it through a 1 inch hole?
Second question how far will said water travel?
First answer: faster than you can see, move or imagine.  Say half a second
Second answer - about 4 feet because that is where I was standing when Slater got the drain out.
Yes, I was hit with 7 gallons of water (cold thankfully) center mass. My hat was dripping water and my shoes were wet along with everything in between.
Slater did an incredible job of not falling over laughing or at least not until I had left.
Also, all that stuff in the bottom of a water heater, that all shoots out too.
Lesson learned? Never open a water heater without re-leaving the presser first and where is the video when you really need it?

General Discussion / Officially Homeless
« on: May 27, 2021, 10:19:34 AM »
Well, it is official, we are homeless. Took the last load to storage yesterday. We are leaving the camper here in Alcoa for repairs tomorrow.
All I am looking for now is a few friends with large driveways that would like to have a nice camper sitting in it for a few weeks at a time. The new place should only take about a year to build so maybe a month at a tim, see pe.
Kidding about a place to park but we are starting not a new chapter but a whole new book. Looking forward to what comes next but still plan to be active in the club for the foreseeable future so I will be around.
Anyway, wish us luck.
Chapter 1
The man in black fled across the desert and the Gunslinger followed (Jackalope will know the line)

General Discussion / RO I Class
« on: March 10, 2021, 09:35:37 PM »
We will be holding a RO I class on March 21st at 11:00. Everyone needs to take at least RO I, this does not mean you have to run the timer but I will teach you more than most TO's know. We will go over the rules, what to do in most situations and what the correct call is 99% of the time.
Cost is $25 for first time, $10 for the refresher course. Everyone is welcome, you do need to be a member of SASS. If you are not a member of SASS and want to take the course you can but you dont get a RO pin.

Let me know who is coming and I will have some snacks for the breaks.

I would love to have a ROI class, would anyone other than Uncle Ethan want to attend one. About 4 hours at the range. Uncle Ethan is welcome but he may be teaching it someday.
Everyone needs a refresher course. New rules and how to handle most situations.

General Discussion / Orientation Class
« on: February 28, 2021, 09:21:30 PM »
Our set-up should be on the 7th this month, I am going to have an orientation class on the 7th in conjunction with set-up. We will start close to 1:30 (in March it is always weather permitting, we have had deep snow on that date before)

Anyway, anyone wanting a basic introduction to Cowboy Action Shooting is welcome. Let me know if you want to attend and need any equipment. Also would help to know if anyone wants to take the class.
