General Discussion / Re: Scores for Thursday January 11, 2024

Thank you!
I wrestled with whether to make the drive right up to the last minute. I've been under the weather with a touch of the flu or something for a couple of weeks but I was over all the symptoms Thursday. Still... I didn't want to do something silly that would make me sick again like getting out in the cold for an extended period of time... but it turned out to be a really nice day. A little chilly in the AM but I took my coat off by stage four and there was lots of sun. I'm still feeling good so I think it was a good idea to get out of the house and get some fresh air.
I enjoyed the people and the shooting immensely.
I had a couple of stages where I slowed down to figure out what I was supposed to do next but the Lord was with me and I guessed right both times!! That happens to me once or twice a match these days. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes I don't. I did good Thursday. My best match this year. (The ONLY match this year so far... Ha!)
I hope to get back soon.
Thanks again.

A heartfelt THANK YOU for your patriotism, your willingness to serve your country and your fellow man and for acting upon your sense of responsibility to both. We salute you and pray that God will continue to bless and protect you. Blessings upon your family as well. To those who gave their all... there are no words powerful enough to express our gratitude. God bless you and these United States of America.

General Discussion / Prestidigitator

Can anyone tell me if Prestidigitator is still shooting? Just curious. When I first started shooting back in the day he was winning just about every match he shot. It occurred to me recently that I haven't seen his name anywhere. Thanks

Indeed. I was sure he was on the mend. I still am having trouble processing this.

Yesterday morning was a jaw dropping shock to everyone as the news of Ringer's passing began to make it's way across the area. Our match was getting under way like so many I suppose... fun, smiles, camaraderie. Johnny Morris, who's picture is in the dictionary next to “fun”, decided to call Ringer, whom we were certain was home from the hospital by now, and ask him “Hey, where are you? We're about to start this match!” That's when the bottom fell out of everything. His wife answered his phone and tearfully informed us that Ringer had passed away this morning (5/20/2023). Montana Hannah erupted in sobs and tears... silence fell upon the rest of us.

There are simply no words to express the huge void that now exists, not only in our sport, but in the hearts of countless shooters across Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia. He was one of the most widely known and admired shooters in the entire SASS community. Gary Douthat was a man of faith and God's gain is our loss. His wife Julia said that they had both decided some time ago that neither wanted a memorial service when they passed so there are no plans for a service at this time. Julia is devastated as you can imagine. Please keep her in your prayers.

God bless
