We plan to set up for the May match on 5 May at 10:00 AM.

We're setting up earlier than usual so we can hold an Introduction to Cowboy Shooting session in the clubhouse at 1:00 PM.

10.)  A 9:30 safety meeting and shooting right after that.

11.)  One shooter will make her 2024 debut.

I predict...

1.)  Six main match stages.  No side match.

2.)  Weather will be fantastic.

3.)  There will be knockdown targets for rifle and handgun.

4.)  We will revisit some of my favorite gunfight stories from the last few years.

5.)  There will be some props to navigate.

6.)  Ammo count will be 60 rifle, 60 handgun and 22+ shotgun.

7.)  This will be a fun match.

I expect they were trying to restrict muzzle-loading shotguns for some reason.  I really can't imagine what kind of safety-related issue anyone might have strictly concerning black powder v. smokeless.

A black powder ban on an outdoor range would be close but not the most ridiculous range rule I've encountered.  An indoor range in Vacaville, CA offered special fees on particular days each month.  For example, on their "Glock Day", you got some kind of discount if you were shooting a Glock.  They also offered a "Colt SAA Day".  Oddly enough, Colt SAA revolvers and their clones were not allowed to be used in their range.  The only single-action revolvers allowed required a transfer bar.

Never did figure that one out...nor did I ever do business with them again.

Weird, random rule stuck away in their shotgun range rules section.

First shotgun range I've ever heard of to ban black powder.

I predict...

1.)  Five main stages and one side match stage.  For the main match, the ammo count is 50 rifle, 50 handgun and 20 shotgun shells.  You'll need ten handgun rounds for the side match and maybe some shotgun shells.  That's up to you.

2.)  Some of us will bring an umbrella.

3.)  No rifle or handgun knockdown targets on the main match stages.  There will be a few on the side match stage.

I predict...

1.)  Five main match stages and one side match.

2.)  You will need 50 rifle, 50 handgun and 18+ shotgun shells for the main match.  Side match will have ten rifle and ten handgun.

3.)  There will be some rifle and handgun knockdown targets.

4.)  Weather will be warm but you might want 40% of a scattered umbrella.  (?)
