General Discussion / Election for Cowboy officers
« on: December 05, 2020, 12:47:43 PM »
It is time for the election of officers for the Cowboys.  I am taking on the secretary of ORSA job.  Keystone has agreed to become Ramrod if  the club agrees.  LongShot Luther has agreed to be Co Ramrod to help with the shoot day duties.  Anita and Jackalope have agreed to continue their great work. I have asked Steely if he wants to continue as Bean Counter. He has not told me yet.  If anyone wants to step up and undertake any of these offices please let me know. It is my plan to vote on officers at the December shoot.  If anyone can not attend the shoot let me know your vote and I will see to it is counted.  It has been my great pleasure to be Ramrod for the past four years .

General Discussion / Re: Prays for Preacher Red

There are no finer Cowboys.  Still think I should have let him marry Honey and I when he offered.  That whole not being a real preacher wouldn’t have been a big deal!

Thank you to Last Kiss for your post and to all who shared that wonderful Cowboy event and their memories.  Honey and I couldn’t ask for a greater group to have grown to know and love then the Cowboys and Cowgirls of SASS

General Discussion / Set Up on November 8
« on: November 04, 2020, 10:00:14 AM »
The set up for our November  shoot will be held on Sunday the 8th at 1:30 pm.   I plan on being there and all volunteers are appreciated.  The shoot will be November 14.  Eleven years ago on that date we started our shoot for November with a wedding.  I am glad to say that the knot tied that day is still firmly tied.  Thanks to the Cowboys for that very special memory!

General Discussion / Need a little help
« on: August 25, 2020, 01:20:47 PM »
I am taking a swing through Texas and won’t be at set up on Sept. 6.  If someone can step up and be in charge I would be in your debt.  I need to get some equipment from Hombre and he will be at the Texas State.  I was originally going to shoot with him but alas it was cancelled in April and rescheduled.  Can’t shoot but I still thought I would have dinner with him. Then swing through Alabama and see my grandson.  I will be at the match on the 12th.  Thanks in advance for all who make it to setup.

General Discussion / Safety protocols for June match
« on: June 03, 2020, 12:10:16 AM »
Several disciplines have now shot at ORSA.  It has gone well with no major issues. Please familiarize yourself with the recently issued SASS guidelines. We will try to follow them as closely as possible. They were sent to all SASS members. If you have not seen them let me know and I will send them to you. Masks or facial coverings are not required in the guidelines but it is strongly urged. They can be removed while shooting. I have purchased  two gallons of hand sanitizer and there will be a spray bottle on each stage.  Social distancing is a bit difficult but if we forget  or you are concerned then the spray is available.  Finally every person must think about their personal situations and decide if the risk of shooting is in their best interest.  If you elect not to participate because it is best for you then I personally respect your decision.  Lastly the fee for the shoot will be ten dollars for all participants and please strive to have exact change.  Good luck to all and be safe.

General Discussion / Possible Shoot in May
« on: April 28, 2020, 11:28:34 AM »
I had great worry that we might have a heated debate on having a shoot. It was offered and I felt the offer should be passed on to the club. It would appear that my previous post has been viewed 104 times.  The seven replies are definitely not attending or unsure.  Today they announced that the House of Representatives is not going back into session because of concerns.  I respect and like all of my Cowboy friends far more than Congress so I think it would be best to follow their lead and delay for a later date to have a match at ORSA.  Stay safe and HEALTHY!!!

General Discussion / Possible Shoot on May 9th
« on: April 24, 2020, 08:41:32 PM »
           Attention

ORSA and Action Pistol have said we can shoot  on May 9 th .

The shoot will have some changes

Posses can have no more than ten members.  No Exceptions
No gathering or meeting at the Pavilion. Registration would be at the Pavilion and then immediately precede to your assigned starting stage.
Safety meetings will be held at each starting stage by the posse Marshals.
We will set up three stages so a maximum number of shooters would be thirty.

This is a match that each individual must seriously consider the risks of being exposed to the Corona Virus. Consider your personal health issues before you decide to participate.

We are going to be the first match held at The Action Pistol  range so I am sure eyes will be on us.  If the rules aren’t followed it might cause other groups to lose their ability to shoot.

I just need an idea of how many people want to try a shoot given these rules and the current health situation .

Please let me know if this is a shoot you want to try so I know if it is feasible .

Mister
No problem setting them up. I don’t think we should leave them out. John from Steel Challenge has several severely dimpled targets where someone used Jacketed ammo.

General Discussion / Future matches
« on: March 18, 2020, 03:02:45 PM »
ORSA has sought advice and been advised to follow guidelines of no more than 10 people in a group even outside.  With this advice they have cancelled all further March Action Pistol events The April events will be evaluated at a future date.  Cowboy shooters can practice on the steel already up on bays one and two. This is Steel Challenge targets so please follow our lead bullet only policy.  If you decide to practice keep in mind no groups of more than 10 people for everyone’s safety and health.
