General Discussion / Need some help
« on: January 15, 2022, 06:44:49 PM »

Have an older heat pump that uses R22.   Trying to find an honest person with some R22 who can top me off and help us get our old unit through the winter?

Noticed t-shirts allowed at Cleveland last match.   Highly in favor of that considering the forecast for tomorrow.   What say the club officers?

Notice:   The Wild Bunch (WB) review and trial stage will not be on the 29th.  It will take place after the OCT TMM match — see post on the TMM website for gun and ammo requirements.

This is intended to allow a 'wide' variety of guns outside of SASS WB rules to get an idea of what WB is like.  We will be following SASS WB safety rules & loading/unloading procedures.   In addition to being a WB RO, I am also an NRA certified range officer and firearms instructor —  SAFETY will be emphasized !!!

General Discussion / July Stages
« on: July 08, 2017, 04:17:07 PM »

Enjoyed today's stages even though I had a handful of misses.  Big improvement in variety of shooting sequences while maintaining the two-scenario per bay format.  Good job!

General Discussion / Match DQ
« on: June 10, 2017, 05:54:57 PM »
So thought I would share some thoughts about my MDQ today.  Thankfully nobody got hurt as I discharged a round at the loading table.  Still not sure how it happened other than in the act of lowering the hammer on what I thought was an empty chamber ... the hammer got away from me and struck a live round.

The mistake I made (and hopefully won't again) was not focusing only on what I was doing but rather some chit-chat.  It is all on me - I know better that when handling firearms there is no room for not paying close attention to what is happening.  At most of the bigger shoots there is very little 'chatter' at the loading table.  Most of the better shooters want that time to focus on the stage and don't want any interruptions.  My bad today and I am going to work hard to do better!

Offered to stay with the posse but Lightening had plenty of help and was kind enough to let me head home.

Regarding the format of (2) stages at one bay.   I have enjoyed the Tue matches using that format that I have gone to.  The only negative (for me) is that the stages have tended to be very similar.

General Discussion / ORSA Match ... looking for some feedback
« on: November 13, 2016, 05:25:01 PM »
Hey all, I have heard mixed comments about our match this past Saturday.  Keystone shared some data re: SDQs, Ps, and misses that were certainly above average while some folks appear to have shot it very well.  It is all "on me" so don't shoot the match director or other officers.  They have always given me a lot of freedom to be creative.

On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being 'fun' & 5 being 'I would of rather stayed home') please post your rating and let me know what you liked and what you did not like.  The more honest you are, the more I benefit.  If you prefer, PM me directly so you can be candid.

PS   If you are in the "5" category - I sincerely apologize.  I try to put a lot of thought into it but have the same goal as most other stage writers which is to create a fun event.  We certainly had an excellent weather day to shoot and I know the officers appreciate everyone who comes out to attend.
