Trading Post / *SOLD* Rossi 92 WTS/WTT
« on: September 15, 2017, 05:59:36 PM »
I recently purchased a Rossi 92 in 357/38 as a backup for SASS shooting.  20" round barrel.  Per their website manufactured in 2015.

It shoots fine but doesn't "fit" me right.

Comes with original box and papers asking $500.00

Also would consider trade on a SASS Lever in 38/357 maybe a Marlin or Winchester?  Slicked even better.  Would be willing to add $$$ to the deal as necessary.

Email me with questions or if you want pictures.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I am out of town on the 8th.  I would really like to take this course, if there is any chance of a repeat down the road, I would be happy to attend.

Thanks to all involved for providing this opportunity

I would like to be a part of that program if you launch it.  If only to get a better grasp of the discipline. I have been an ORSA member for more than 2 years and am pretty familiar with their rules and regulations.

Down the road, if the need is there, I would like to contribute as a range officer, I realize that is way in the future

Uncle Ethan,

Tombstone has a good point however let me know what time I can be there on the 14th - I should be able to assist you.  I will be out of state for the Sunday Set Up but should be at the Tuesday shoot assuming there is one.

Tombstone,

I can be available on that date to help out, not sure I know all the ropes to Ramrod but let me know what I can do.

General Discussion / Reloading Adventures
« on: September 05, 2017, 04:03:51 PM »
So I'm in to reloading.  A kind member of the our club put me in to a Dillon Square B.  Since I had never been close to a re-loader before have to say it appeared to be the most convoluted machine I ever set eyes on. Though my background is electronics I am reasonably mechanically minded, or so I thought.

A couple of days researching and playing (I have yet to reload anything live) I am at the point where I grasp the machine's process and have run blanks through it (no primers or powder) and am truly in awe at what this thing does.

As far as I can tell the die head was set to process .357 Magnum, the dies are common to a .38 Special, so I adjusted the powder funnel to obtain around 0.010 flare.  I had to lower, or adjust down, the seating stem, station 3 to seat the bullet correctly and all seems well.  My question is that the manual says to put a seated bullet in station 4 (crimper) lower the die until it just meets resistance with the lever down, lift up the lever and tighten down a 1/4 turn more.  this seems flaky at best.  So my question is where do I crimp relative to the top of the case?  Using flat nose lead with a recess just below the cone and a red (seal?) below it.  See attached pix.

Thanks for any input, promise not to use this stuff at the range until someone inspects it :)

Sorry to hear you folks were washed out today.

General Discussion / Re: Solar eclipse... Wow!
« on: August 22, 2017, 08:02:08 PM »
It was truly impressive.  We had our daughter and husband down coincidentally for a visit, made it even more special.  Though I grasp the mechanics of an eclipse, the real thing, in real time, blew us away.

I may be headed to Texas too Tombstone in order to catch the next one.

General Discussion / Re: August 12 Match Predictions
« on: August 11, 2017, 06:10:07 PM »
I predict:

1. It will rain at our homes, but not at the range.

2. I will improve my time, but rest easy top shooters, you are safe - for now :)

3.  Above all, I will have a good a good time - this is a given.

General Discussion / Re: Tuesday's scores are on the website!
« on: August 09, 2017, 03:35:01 PM »
Thanks Uncle Ethan!

I'm addressing my technique, especially shotgun loading.  It seems, as I remember,  I was waving the thing around while loading like a flag on Independence Day.  Trying to learn to keep it at my shoulder.

Thanks to you and everyone for your pointers and encouragement.  I am having great time with this sport.

Thanks everyone for your help and patience today as I put the first match under my belt.  Have to say I was nervous however I did have a really good time.  Keep the advice coming, and keep me within the rules.  Did I mention this sport is harder than it looks :)

See you all on Saturday, this is going to be a fun journey I do believe.
