Tombstone,
I have another person for the shooting orientation, and will stay for a refresh myself if it's not too crowded.

Sheriff Langston,
I been shooting a year now and still don't have my cart completed. There is a clean one (that can be used) in the target shed, and there are a couple of other, much rougher ones, in the other shed. As far a loading the Ruger New Vaqueros, try this sequence:
  Open the loading gate
Load one bullet in first chamber
  Skip (rotate past) second chamber
Load four bullets in chambers 3 to 6
  Close loading gate (before rotating)
Rotate to lock cylinder (at what would have been the second chamber)
This is fast and doesn't involve a lot of chamber rotations

Thanks Outlaw Sam. I appreciate the cart offer and will take you folks up on it if one still available.  Mine is still a pile of assorted lumber right now, I do have the wheels and axle however :)

On the Vaquero loading sequence what you say makes perfect sense,  I will practice this before Sunday and hopefully have it down by then.

Again, thanks!

The more the merrier, I will go over why the load one, skip one, load 4 can be a  problem if you are a re-loader.

I could ask this tomorrow I guess but I'm curious for your all's input.

I am very right handed.  In B-Western shooting I understand you can pull your left mounted revolver and transfer to your right hand in order to shoot.

Whether it is the right or left revolver I am shooting, is it legal, or wise, to cock the hammer with your left hand thumb?

I am fortunate enough to have a range on my property and this seemed the way for me to go as I was practicing. I got pretty fast then realized I wasn't hitting anything however  :) Seems I have away to go.

I do have minor arthritis in my right thumb.

Looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow through the week.

You can not transfer a cocked revolver from one hand to the other.

See you tomorrow.

When you draw your right pistol it is much faster to cock it with your left thumb. Once you have transferred your left pistol to your right hand it is also much faster to cock it with you left hand, just be sure, as Tombstone said, you have transferred it before you cock it.

Thanks to everyone I met today at the set up for your hospitality and support.  I was somewhat anxious at the outset of the orientation, but hats off to you Tombstone, you not only taught us, you made it fun.

Tuesday match?  Lets do it unless it snows :)

Sheriff Langston.
