General Discussion / Delta Desperado Joins the Heavenly Posse
« on: October 18, 2023, 02:09:46 PM »
Delta Desperado (George "Buz" Morrow III) died this past Saturday (10/14/2023).  Buz grew up in Yazoo City Mississippi.  He was a star defensive end on the University of Mississippi football team.  He earned All American Honors and was Archie Manning's roommate.  He went on to play with the Minnesota Vikings for a number of years.

I knew Buz from football and golf where we were opposing coaches.  I talked him into cowboy shooting years ago.  Buz was never a great shooter, but he really enjoyed the sport and the other shooters he met.

Buz's health started to deteriorate a few years ago after a heart attack followed by a stroke.  He recovered from those ailments and tried to shoot with us a couple of times, but he stopped because he felt unsafe.  His health took a turn for the worse about a year ago, and he never quite recovered.

Trading Post / FS Dillon Super Swage 600
« on: September 02, 2023, 06:04:28 PM »
I've had one of these for years, and it works very well for swaging military brass primer pockets.

Today at an estate sale I purchased a second one that is in as new condition.  It has the press and all its different size parts for different size brass (only the ones that came with the original kit).  The original box is missing. (see the link to Dillon website below)

The current price for this gizmo is $143 plus shipping. I'm asking $80 face to face.

General Discussion / Free Electric Mower
« on: February 03, 2022, 01:01:04 PM »
My son has a year-old Greenworks electric mower that he is giving away.  It worked great for his grass in S. Carolina, but his new yard in Chattanooga has a much thicker variety grass and the electric mower didn't function well.

It will need a new battery, or someone with the technical ability to "jump" the old battery off.  He ran down the charge so much that the charger would not recharge the battery.  He found information on-line that explained how to open the battery case and get enough of a charge in it to allow the use of a battery charger.  He wasn't willing to fool with it and bought a large gas engine mower instead.  A new battery is available from stores, or the company, but they are not cheap.

These are expensive mowers.  I have the 80 volt version and it works great for a front yard.  Kitty Kat likes it because it is lighter than a gas mower.  I have a gas mower for our large backyard jungle.

If you are interested, contact me.  I can also text you a picture.

Trading Post / Oil Skin Dusters BOTH ARE SOLD
« on: December 27, 2020, 12:04:58 PM »
I have two Outback Trading Company Model 2042 full length oil skin dusters for sale.  They are both 3XL, but a 2XL cowboy would find them comfortable.  One coat is dark brown the other is black.

They are both like new (the brown one was worn 20 minutes and the black one was worn once to costume party).  I bought the brown one and I wore it on the first stage of one shoot and promptly walked it back to the car.  It was way too hot for me.  It's lived in a closet ever since.  My brother bought the second one and wore it to a costume party.  He said he survived in it for pictures and then it came off (something about living in Tampa).

They currently sell on Amazon for $158 each (click the link below).  I'm asking $75 each.

Trading Post / 550 Dillon Case Feeder for Sale - NOW $50 SPF
« on: December 15, 2020, 10:47:44 AM »
I have a used 550 Dillon case feeder for sale.  New, these cost $300.  I'm asking $100 $50

This case feeder came off of Awful Closes 550.  I bought the 550, but I have no interest in the case feeder.  I never tried to operate the case feeder, but with Dillon's great customer support support, this would be a no risk purchase.

Let me know if you're interested.

General Discussion / 2020 Tennessee State Shoot Dates?
« on: December 07, 2019, 05:45:49 PM »
I need to know the official dates for next year's shoot.  I heard a rumor that the dates might change do to the conflict with the music festival.

I have to make arrangements for the care of an elderly family member while we are participating and it's important that I can confirm dates ASAP.

General Discussion / Travels with Long Gulch and Mongo
« on: October 19, 2019, 08:30:03 PM »
We left for Tombstone at about 9:00 this morning.  Gulch's Ram truck (like Tombstone's) is like riding while seated in a nice recliner.  Things were smooth until we hit highway 80.  I have never been on an interstate with as many dips and bumps.  We chatted the whole way, but after awhile, Gulch didn't say as much and just nodded a lot.  I think he turned his hearing aid off  ;).

The only notable thing we saw was the spot where Long Gulch blew a tire on the 5th wheel on his last trip.  Luckily, we made it to Ft. Smith with no incidents.  I'm trying to behave until we get to Tombstone so Gulch doesn't kick me out of the truck.  We're going to watch a few hours of Fox propaganda and hit the hay.
