General Discussion / Sunday's TO Clinic.
« on: August 05, 2018, 06:19:45 PM »
Thanks to Jackalope and Anita for hosting the clinic today.

It was fun and I learned a lot.  Good to see the sport from the TO perspective.

General Discussion / Friday's Long Range Shoot
« on: July 14, 2018, 07:41:03 PM »
Ranger Z taught me more about long range iron sights in 30 minutes than I could have learned anywhere else in a year.

Dirty Dan brought his 38-55, I think because he knew I had one and wanted to show me how to shoot it.  He did, very well. He is an amazing shootist and just fun to be around.

Leadhead simply showed off.  Once on a target he just would not miss.  Sort of annoying, but we tolerated him.

Maddog.  Well this man has more enthusiasm for this sport than you could imagine.  He has the most exotic weapons and the ability to use them.

We all shot each other’s rifles in an informal manner and had a really good time.

My thanks to Maddog for heading this up, I know it’s not a cake walk.

The heat and the timing (day before main match) were a deterrent however I would encourage anyone interested in long range to come to the next session.  It truly is fun.

General Discussion / Plugging the Friday afternoon Long Range Shoot
« on: July 11, 2018, 07:31:29 PM »
Maddog is hosting this event 4 'til dark on Friday.  Hoping as many as can will attend though I do appreciate it's a quick turn around for the main event on Saturday.

What I can say is we will (me definitely) be learning, but it will be fun.  If you don't have firearms that fit into the SASS categories, come on down anyway.  You will be more than welcome to use ours and our ammo and just enjoy the range.

Hope to see as many as possible!

General Discussion / Gun Cart up for Grabs
« on: April 15, 2018, 06:36:16 PM »
I built my first gun cart last fall.  Started as an outhouse on wheels but paired it back some to a more normal five gun cart.

It is still too heavy for me so I have reluctantly gone with a Rugged Gear, hopefully to support my years ahead in this game.

That being said I will place this cart in the "shed" probably later this week  It can be used as a "loaner" for those who may be trying out the sport or what would be even better, give to someone scrambling to navigate the financial challenges of getting into this game.

Once again yesterday was really fun, hope to see you all of you soon.

General Discussion / Tuesdays's Shoot
« on: February 06, 2018, 05:53:43 PM »
It was chilly but Anita did shoot :)

Had a lot of fun with some great folks.

Saturday's rain is just a scientifically based forecast,  I predict it will be warmer with almost no precipitation. Really!

I purchased two pairs of Frontier Classic cowboy pants from the SASS wire recently.  Both are 36" waist and the usual 36" hemmed inseam. One is brown/rust striped, the other is blue/striped.  These were sold and described accuratly as used, but in good shape which they are.  Close to new in my estimation.

Issue is, which most of you already probably know; though I apparently did not, is that the waist measument with this kind of pant is not your "natural" waist - I am a 34-36, but rather your beer belly waist (belly button).  So they don't fit me and giving up beer is plumb too way out of the realm of possibility.

All that being said these are free to a good home.  If you have a need for them, or even better, know of a newbie (that would be a skinny newbie) let me know I would be more than happy to donate.

I'll have them with me at ORSA for the next shoot.

General Discussion / Practice on Wednesday
« on: January 09, 2018, 09:11:13 AM »
Since the weather appears to be favorable tomorrow and the stages are set for Saturday's shoot, a couple of us are meeting up for a practice session on Wednesday.

If anyone would like to join in, we will be starting around noon.

General Discussion / Norinco/AIC 1897
« on: November 30, 2017, 08:07:29 PM »
Anyone in the market for a reproduction Winchester 97 may want to look at this. I ordered this one to "replace" my real circa 1913 genuine version primarily because it has a 30" barrel, but does shoot well.  I could not bring myself to shorten the barrel.

I took ownership today and it though used, appears to be close to 100% condition.  It has Norinco stamped on it, the only aesthetic I don't like is the very large lettering on one side denoting shell size and the importer.  The walnut is what I would call almost blonde in hue.

Not sure if I can put auction links on here so do a search for "Norinco M97" on Gun Broker.  They appear to have several.  It was $300.00 plus around $30.00 shipping.

The reason I am posting this I had a tough time finding one, thought I may save anyone else some time.

I'll have with me at ORSA at the setup on Sunday and the shoots on Tuesday and Saturday.  May even hit a target or two :)

General Discussion / Saturday's Shoot at ORSA
« on: October 14, 2017, 06:15:10 PM »
I may well be getting repetitive however thanks to all of you for your encouragement and help today.  I did, I believe, mange one clean stage at under 60 seconds, so all is good!

For anyone curious about my locked up Marlin on the last stage that some of you were helping me with.  Took the action out as in a standard field strip, a round dropped out, not from the breech and there were four more in the tube.  Reassembled and it appears to be cycling just fine.  I'll put some rounds through it next week and see how it does.  If not I guess I'll be seeking out Widowmaker. :)

See Y'all next time.

PLEASE DELETE

This is for CAS so if slicked, or short stroked all the better.

Have bunches of choices for possible trades, let me know.

General Discussion / Saturday Shoot at ORSA
« on: October 10, 2017, 07:23:34 PM »
To those Outlaws headed to Wartrace on Saturday, good luck and make us proud!

I will be arriving early on Saturday to the ORSA range to assist whoever is leading us for the local shoot.

I understand Silverado is a part of the theme, this will be fun.

Trading Post / *SOLD* Rossi 92 WTS/WTT
« on: September 15, 2017, 05:59:36 PM »
I recently purchased a Rossi 92 in 357/38 as a backup for SASS shooting.  20" round barrel.  Per their website manufactured in 2015.

It shoots fine but doesn't "fit" me right.

Comes with original box and papers asking $500.00

Also would consider trade on a SASS Lever in 38/357 maybe a Marlin or Winchester?  Slicked even better.  Would be willing to add $$$ to the deal as necessary.

Email me with questions or if you want pictures.

Thanks.
